Ordering Guide
How to order matcha if you are new to it.

Ordering matcha for the first time can feel confusing because the word covers many different experiences. Some drinks are clean and earthy. Some are creamy and sweet. Some are layered with fruit, pudding, cream, or roasted tea. The easiest way to order well is to decide what kind of mood you want.
If you want the clearest introduction, choose a classic matcha latte. It gives you the flavor of green tea with enough milk to soften it. Ask for moderate sweetness if you are unsure. You can always go less sweet next time once you know the tea better.
Choose by flavor profile
Some matcha tastes floral and light. Some tastes more vegetal or savory. Some feels rich and umami-forward. A good cafe can explain these differences in normal language, not technical language. You should be able to say, “I want something smooth,†or “I want something bolder,†and get a helpful answer.
At Phê, we treat matcha profiles like personalities. The goal is not to make guests memorize tea terms. The goal is to help people find a cup that fits them.
Milk and sweetness matter
Milk changes the shape of matcha. Whole milk gives richness. Oat milk can make the drink softer and slightly grain-sweet. Less milk lets the tea show more. More sweetness can make matcha friendlier for beginners, but too much can hide the green tea flavor.
If you are sensitive to bitter flavors, choose a latte or cream-topped drink. If you already enjoy green tea, start cleaner and less sweet.
When to choose a signature drink
Choose Banana Pudding Matcha when you want comfort and dessert texture. Choose Matcha Einspanner when you want creaminess without fruit. Choose a fruit matcha when you want brightness. There is no wrong path, but there is usually a best first step for your taste.
The best order is the one that makes you want to come back and try the next version.
A simple ordering framework
Use three questions when ordering matcha: do you want classic or playful, bright or creamy, less sweet or dessert-like? Those answers will usually point you toward the right drink. Classic, bright, and less sweet means a clean matcha latte. Playful, creamy, and dessert-like points toward banana pudding matcha or an einspanner.
You do not need to know every tea term. A good order can start with ordinary language: “I want something smooth,” “I want something not too sweet,” or “I like creamy drinks.” That is enough for a helpful recommendation.
Common questions
What if I do not like bitterness? Choose a latte with moderate sweetness or a cream-topped drink. Milk and cream soften matcha's sharper edge.
What if I want the strongest tea flavor? Ask for a more tea-forward profile and lower sweetness.
Can I customize milk? Most cafe drinks can be adjusted, but toppings and creams may still contain dairy. Ask if you have dietary needs.
